  • What We Will Do

    Expanding Vocal Range

    Improvisation Techniques

    Greek & Turkish Music Repertoire

    Learn about stylistic elements such as the different singing traditions of Asia Minor, the art of vocal improvisation, and intricate ornamentation.

  • Instructors

    The workshop is led by Duygu Alkan and Pelagia Tsiachri Renta, experienced musicians and vocalists with extensive expertise in Turkish and Greek music respectively. Both bring their passion for cultural exchange and musical teaching, offering a supportive and enriching environment for all participants.

  • Musicians Accompanying the Workshop and Concert

    You will be joined by professional musicians who will enhance the learning experience during the workshop and support you during the live concert on 15th January.

  • Duygu Alkan

    Duygu Alkan is a Turkish singer based in the Netherlands who performs Anatolian and Ottoman musical styles. She graduated from the Ege State Conservatory of Turkish Music (2017) and the Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory (2019) and has performed throughout Europe and the Middle East.

    She has recorded two EPs My Garden's Perennials and Seranade with Turkish masters such as Coskun Karademir, Cenk Erdogan and Derya Turkan. In 2013, she received three awards for best solo performance from the Turkish Ministry of Culture.

  • Pelagia Tsiachri Renta

    Pelagia is a Greek singer based in the Netherlands. She blends traditional Greek, rebetiko, Ottoman, and folk styles. In 2023, she graduated from Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory, specializing in Ottoman music and voice.

    In addition to performing with various bands, Pelagia is a vocal coach passionate about uniting cultures through music. With a background in electrical and computer engineering, she combines technical precision with artistic expression. Currently, she is exploring music pedagogy to inspire further and connect through her craft.

    Participants will not only learn but also have the opportunity to perform on a real stage with professional musicians, experiencing the thrill of live performance in an authentic setting.
